Yee Wong an international contemporary artist based in New York. Her works have been seen on different media internationally from the social media of contemporary art museum like Saatchi Gallery in London to the Art Voices Magazine Cover in NYC. She is definitely one of the most inspiring artists of this century. We recently had an interview with this talented artist to discuss her works and the power of creativity and mindset. We wanted to learn more about what drives her mindset for creativity and how it has propelled her to become an internationally recognized artist. Her approach to mindset and creativity has helped her find her voice and create some widely successful artworks. It was an honor to speak to her and pick her brain regarding her own processes for motivation, driving visual language and more. Check below to find out more about what we had to ask:
Forever Bloom is one of your most widely recognized art series. What inspired you in the piece?
Mental health affects our daily life so much and there are many people feeling sad and lonely throughout the COVID 19 pandemic. I was inspired to create a strong piece to get people out of the darkness to focus on strength and health. The abstract visual representation here involved my thoughts on getting the brain out of a dark state and how willpower and mindset can make a difference in changing attitudes towards your health physically and mentally.
Can you elaborate on the visual language in Forever Bloom?
The blue and vibrant pink colors are contradictions here. I wanted the blue flowers to stand out against the pink and that standout puts humans on the center stage of the subject matter. Using messy silver tassel images on the flower represented how stress can weight us down in our lives. The flowers against these tassels was made to represent the contrast between serenity and stress in our lives.
You’ve had an incredible fan response and an overwhelming response in the art community to this beautiful series, what would you say to fans of your work?
I want to thank you all for your love and support of my works. This support drives me forward and inspires me to create more art.
Where do you draw your inspiration to create from?
I read constantly and I am always listening to music. Inspiration can strike anywhere in life but by stimulating my mind with the things I love like art and design I put myself into a position to get my creative juices flowing. You never know when something might inspire you to create!
What message do you want your art to send?
I am inspired by beauty in this world in many forms and I want to add to the beauty of this world with my own art. I am always attempting to send a positive message and to bring something into the world that can take away just a bit of sadness and darkness. Sending positive messages through my art to uplift people is one of the goals in my art.
